Scrapbook Saturday - Happy First Edition

Remember when.......when I used to post a few scrapbook pages on Saturdays?  We called it "Scrapbook Saturday".  Those days sort of fell by the wayside.  Just not enough time in my days.  So, today I am posting a scrapbook page!

The sweet retired stamp set called Happy Together makes this page adorable.   The First Edition dsp sets the stage for this scrapbook page as the background.  I have stamped both Night of Navy and Always Artichoke card stock with the Happy Together stamps and Apple Blossoms stamp set.

Notice the pretty lace-inspired borders on the navy and artichoke cs pieces?  I have punched with Stampin' Up's new punch called Lace Ribbon Border, which is available from our new 2011/2012 IB&C!

Embellishments:  crimped 1 3/8" square, striped Night of Navy 1 1/4" ribbon, and long ago retired stickers from a Stampin'Around Kit!

Thanks for looking!

Scrapbook Saturday - Duplo Darling

I found this picture the other day & I have moved it from one counter or table to another.  Rather than put it in my photo boxes, I decided to make it into a quick scrapbook page.  Consequently, here's my Scrapbook Saturday post, which doesn't happen very frequently anymore!

I think I achieved my goal for this page:  whimsical, fun, childlike.  I went with a hand-created title/journal element to give it that kiddie look.  A square punch carried the square block theme throughout.

If you have an extra special photo that you can't seem to file away, why not just "scrap it" today?!   I am glad that I didn't wait for that perfect layout & spend an hour making it just right.  Sometimes five minutes & a lot of love gets it done!

Scrapbook Saturday - Razzle Dazzle Soccer

Happy New Year!  I am back from a week's rest, and boy did I rest!  Even better news is that my stamping mojo has risen to new levels after that rest, so be sure to check out my blog often in 2010!  You will completely be blown away with the new Stampin' Up! products that I plan to feature from our two new mini catalogs, Occasions and Sale-a-Bration!

Recently we had a terrific evening with friends to follow their son's quest for a national soccer championship.  I just had to capture the pics for eternity on a scrapbook page!  Of course!

You may notice that the dsp sooooo matches my jacket!  No, I didn't plan it that way.  hee hee   The Razzleberry Lemonade designer series paper colors of Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry capture the stand-out colors in these pics.  The Razzleberry Lemonade dsp even surprised me for a soccer layout, but I absolutely love the way it turned out.

I have adhered a curly label with dimensionals for the first letter of the page title.  I embellished the curly label letter with the coordinating Razzle Dazzle stamp set, keeping the focus on the bright letter and going with a lighter colored flower decoration.  I kept with the curvy theme & incorporated the modern label punch, along with the word window punch, for the journaling.  And, of course, I just had to add a blingy brad to go with pink!

Though tomorrow is Sunday (my posting day off generally), be sure to check my post - I will post some great information about the new catties.  I mentioned most of it in my email newsletters, but if you don't receive my emails, be sure to tune in!  If you would like to receive my stamp camp/S U news emails monthly, just end me an email to lahinks@gmail.com!

Scrapbook Saturday - Grommit Family

Here's a layout that the ladies made at Scrapbook Club this month.

We had a lovely color palette and incorporated elements such as chipboard, grommit hardware, and the Jumble Alphabet into the design.

Join us some time!  Just send me a message & I will give you the deets!

SCRAPBOOK SATURDAY - 8 x 10 Frameable Scrapbook Page

I just had a stamp camp where we made a scrapbook page measuring 8 x 10" (the Not Quite Navy cs part of this scrapbook page above).  The 8 x 10" page can then be used in a frame for a table or wall, or it can be mounted on a 12 x 12" designer paper for a scrapbook.   Isn't that a great idea?   I chose to adhere my 8 x 10" page to some Close to Cocoa striped dsp & add a bright title.

I started with the 8 x 10" Not Quite Navy cs, then added a layer of Close to Cocoa patterned dsp measuring 6 x 8".

I cut mats for the photos measuring 2 3/4" square.  The circles are punched with a 1" circle punch.

Cs strips are added in both Not Quite Navy and Old Olive - the NQN strip is punched with the scallop border punch.

The title is traced on Old Olive cs using Onboard Chipboard letters.

There's no need for a scrap map today - the layout is very straightforward and easy to follow.

Isn't this a terrific color combination?

SCRAPBOOK SATURDAY - Tiny Apples

It's Scrapbook Saturday once again!

I have so many pictures of apple picking through the years. I remembered that I have a cute little stamp set called One Smart Cookie. The set has a little apple in it.

I decided to use every corner of the page & cut around the pics in silhouette. It's a different style that is fun to do.

Circles & scallop circles are layered on both sides of the center picture.

I stamped tiny little apples & punched them out with a 1/2" circle punch. Little apples are adhered in a row & also layered on each end of the title.

One of the stamps in this stamp set says "sweeter than apple pie". It is stamped & punched out with the new Modern Label punch. I've added it at the bottom of the page.

A journaling marker adds a subsued title.

Scrapbook Saturday - Wintergreen Casey

It's been awhile since I have posted on Scrapbook Saturday. This layout has some S U retired designer paper called Wintergreen (if I remember it correctly). I saw those colors in the photos, so I used a soft yellow base & the soft greens.

I cut out a little dog bone from black cs & adhered it with dimensionals. I also added three tiny buttons. I corner rounded the designer paper at the to6.

For the title, I used creative journaling with a black journaling marker.

Hope you like it!

Scrapbook Saturday - Background Stamped Border

This Whisper White scrapbook page layout's bottom border is created with a background stamp and a Real Red inkpad. I have used the retired Polka Dots & Paisley polka dot stamp repeatedly across the page. You could use any background stamp - just stamp across the page, but make sure the tops of the images are at the same height. Alternatively, a Stampin' Around wheel works extremely well to create a page border.

The new Modern Label punch is more than just a tool for punching out messages into an attractive shape. Here I punched out a modern label to use as a page embellishment decoration. I also heat embossed a small round image to make it shiny & then adhered it like a buckle onto the modern label.

Have a great day!

Scrapbook Saturday & A Blooper

Did anybody notice my blogging blooper? Either nobody noticed, or you just were trying to be considerate & prevent me embarrassment.....I posted the same blog twice on the July 17 & May 30 Scrapbook Saturday posts. If you didn't see this blooper, you lost your chance because I fixed it! I replaced the May 30 post with a different one! Too funny. Sometimes when I only have a limited amount of time for blogging, I post a pic of something I had made in the past that I hadn't posted before (or so I thought).

Here is today's layout -

I went for the corners on this scrapbook page layout. I also stamped a bird with Black Stazon ink onto watercolor paper, colored it with Stampin' Up markers & cut out the birdie. Then, I adhered the birdie to a contrasting dsp circle, and layered again onto a larger punched Whisper White circle.

Three Whisper White circles are added along the right side. Scraps of Brilliant Blue cs become tiny tabs for the circles.

C ya!

Scrapbook Saturday - Simply Scrappin'

This layout is made using some left over parts from a "Simply Scrappin'" Kit that is old, yet still looks great!

The color combination for this layout are: Bordering Blue, Night of Navy, Real Red & Whisper White. Designer Papers and matching cs are simply cut & used as layering under the photos. Everything you see here are stickers from the kit - the photo corners, borders, embellishments & page decorations.

If you like to scrapbook, but don't seem to have lots of time to devote to each layout or feel design-challenged or color-challenged, get your hands on these kits! There are so many stickers/embellishments with each kit that you will be able to design numerous layouts with one kit, with each layout looking different!

Scrapbook Saturday - White, Scraps, Doodles & Metal

Sorry I missed last week's Scrapbook Saturday. The layout I am posting today uses Whisper White 12" x 12" base paper that is dressed up in bright Stampin' Up designer papers. Everything on the page seems to jump out at you. But there are three other elements that add interest to this layout.

Color on White: Bright Stampin' Up designer papers in 3 complimentary colors keep you lookin'! Matte some of the pics onto pretty paper so they look like picture frames. Add trim pieces in the form of punched circles & strips of color.

Metal: Add some hardware in the form of staples & brads.

Doodles: The last thing that gives this finished page such a great look is the journaling and doodling. Scribble, doodle & journal to your heart's content with a dark journaling marker. One of my favorite doodles is when I outline things twice with thin, double, curvy lines.

I enjoy sharing with you & hope you like it! Have fun creating your own white page with lots of interest!

Scrapbook Saturday Simplicity & PUNCH SALE TODAY!

Before we move on to the Scrapbook Layout for today, here is a Stampin' Up Special Deal that will expire on July 6th:

s a l e p r i c e : $10.99

Item #112091 Scallop Edge Punch

I will be taking orders for this punch through late in the evening on July 5th, so we don't have much time to work with. Stampin' Up has a "Deal of the Week" every week in July. This is the first week's deal. It's a great price! This punch punches borders, strips of cs, & edges with ease.

Now, on to Scrapbook Saturday...........

Do you want a clean look that does not require cropping your photos and that is fast to complete? If so, this layout is for you.

A baseball layout - what a great scrappin' topic for summer. The card stock used here is Garden Green 12" x 12". A plain background stamp was stamped on half of each page. Taken with Teal card stock and some matching designer paper make up the color combination, along with Whisper White. This layout is elementary and appealing. "So very" and "happy" are stamped on separate pages.

Ribbon adds just a touch of embellishment.

Scrapbook Saturday - Classy Bluebird

We all have those "class photos" from our kids classrooms through the elementary years. They sit in a pile, a file, or a "school memories box". What can we do with those photos instead of being forgotten? My June scrapbooking night solved that little problem for those attending. The chipboard, buttons, designer series papers & card stock on this layout are available just for about the next week, while they last, until Stampin' Up's new catalog is introduced.
The colors for this layout are:
Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Point, Real Red, Summer Sun, Only Orange, & Chocolate Chip.
The Designer Series Paper is Good Morning Sunshine.
Chipboard set is On Board So Tweet.
I sponged some of the chipboard, traced & covered some with cs, and used some traced pieces flat to the base without the original chipboard.
The flowers were created with a variety of punches, chipboard & cs. You can get very creative when designing your flowers - anything goes!
Cute, huh? If it looks slightly familiar, that's because this designer series paper & chipboard match a few stamp sets in the same catalog. I've been using one of them called Good Friend.

Scrapbook Saturday - Stitched & Soft

I found some more paper again in my bottomless paper box. The pattern on the background looks so much like the pattern on the patio chair cushions in the pictures. It's funny.
It's the detailing on this layout that I really like. After adhering photos to the coordinating striped scrapbook paper, I pierced 2 rows of holes around all four sides. This was done with a piercing tool. I made the rows wavy - kinda like they were done very fast on a sewing machine. The rows overlap each other in some places. After all holes were pierced, I "faux stitched" both "seams" by drawing from hole to hole with a Basic Brown Journaling marker. The trick to make it look like there are real stitches is to let the journaling marker actually drop down into each pierced hole as you trace the pierced row of holes. When the marker drops into each pierced hole, some brown marker shows inside the hole, so it looks like thread in real stitching.

Another detail that adds to the great look of this page is the journaling element. Punched & distressed circles are adhered onto journaling strips, both in the same card stock color.

Chipboard letters are traced onto black card stock, then adhered to a gray title block. Piercing and "faux stitched rows" are done on one side of the title block.

SCRAPBOOK SATURDAY - Tweed Pattern

Today I have traced a diecut curvy page given to me by a friend, curves and points and all, on the reverse side of some herringbone tweed scrapbook paper. (I found it in my bottomless paper box.) The tweed paper is then adhered to a solid background.

The photograph is double matted. I added a title overlapping the matted picture. Journaling is done surrounding the picture on the "mat".

SCRAPBOOK SATURDAY - corkboard & water

I was trying to think of another way to scrap water (beach) pics. Then I found some dp in my bottomless paper bin that look like photographs of water and corkboard. This is what I came up with.

My journaling is on cs that I cut out to look wavy - what to you think?

Scrapbook Saturday - Curly & Bright

Just a quick layout today using brilliant blue, only orange, & real red. Poor camera skills again. I utilized the negative piece from a top note diecut to frame the real red cs journaling block. I also added a curly label punched piece within it to go with that "curly theme". The journaling (hard to read) says "one mile run", with the "run" on the curly label. I hand-cut photo corner pieces & journaled onto them.

Scrapbook Saturday - Orchid Madness

I find myself posting Scrapbook Saturday posts on Sundays lately. I should just rename it “Scrapbook Sunday” or “Weekend Scrapbook Post” (but there’s no alliteration there & certainly nothing catchy about that phrasing). I suppose I’ll leave things as they are.

This week’s Scrapbook “Saturday” post is made up of very vibrant colors. The colors were pulled from the vibrant photo colors. The color combo is:

Orchid Opulence

Tempting Turquoise

Brilliant Blue

Whisper White

Plus, I embellished with Summer Sun

The base paper is Orchid Opulence. I adhered a strip of Design Series Patterns Paper in Tempting Turquoise & two pieces of Brilliant Blue cs above & below the photos.

I matted the title in Tempting Turquoise cs. I found some Hawaiian print paper in my bottomless paper box & cut out one of the flowers for embellishment. I also added two small strips of the same paper near the title to balance the page.

Until tomorrow,

Linda :)

SCRAPBOOK SATURDAY - Preschool Graduation

I am really in need of suggestions as to how I can photograph my blog scrapbook layouts to look better on this blog. Once again, this picture does this layout no justice. It is much more attractive in person! Actually, I don't like to post pics of people that I have not asked permission of, so I pixellate the photos. I think much of the unattractiveness of the bog layout pics is due to the pixellation. I'll keep trying!

The base on the left page is white, yet the base page on the right page is blue. I trimmed pics to be of a uniform width or height. Then, I cut thin cs strips & arranged them down & across the pages alongside the photos. Empty spaces are covered with designer paper measured to fit in the empty spaces. Leave a large open space for journaling if you want to journal a story about the pics. I haven't adhered it yet, but I journaled on the computer & printed it out onto archival cs.

I also added an arrow so the viewer can single out the intended subect in the group photo.

SCRAPBOOK SATURDAY (well, Sunday)

Today's scrapbooking post is a work in progress. I still need to embellish it so it looks finished. Sometimes I just have to sit back & wait a few days & take another look at a page. If anybody has any suggestions on what I should do to finish this page, I am all ears! It would be fun to hear suggestions from you.

The circles are cut from soccer scrapbook paper and Pacific Point cs with a circle cutter. The focal point picture is framed with the same soccer paper to tie it all together.

Letters are cut in a die-cutting machine and then rolled through a Xyron machine to make them sticky on the back. (I didn't feel like using tedious adhesive on every skinny letter!)

ugh - I don't know what happened to my camera - this pic looks awful - my apologies!

Happy Weekend!

There are still a few spots left for Thursday evening's camp - email me to sign up!

Linda :)
