Isn't the flower on this card a stunner?! Perhaps you read my
blog post on 4/6/2011 and remember that I promised to explain this flower technique.
Here's a second flower I made using different patterns from the same designer series paper. Isn't this

Stampin' Up's Owl Punch is the tool you need to make this flower. How fun! You only punch out the owl body (you won't need the little circle parts and other doo-dads that this punch also punches out). On the 4/6 card, I punched out and used 6 owl bodies. For today's card, I used 7 owl bodies, and I think the 7 owls is an improvement.
NOTES
1. Fold the owls in half lengthwise. If you are using double sided paper, the pattern that you cannot see when the owl is folded will become the smallest inner petals. I folded my owls inside out, so I had to flip the pattern that I preferred later before assembling the flower......
2. Cut off their little toes (ouch - poor little owls).
3. Make a cut along the curve of the ear, continuing that cut so it goes all the way through the fold - discard the scrap & you have created the long petals.
4. Fold back the rounded sides of each owl, like little flaps, beginning at the center fold, and ending approximately where the curve begins to go inward. Those two flaps are the small inner petals. Depending on what size your flaps are, you will need to prepare either 6 or 7 owls.

5. Punch a circle from cs with the 1 3/4" circle punch, then cover it with adhesive.
6. Begin laying the folded petals around the cs circle, with pointed edges meeting in the center. You may have to reposition the "wedges" until they fit together well and look symmetrical.

7. Curl the long petal tips and sponge edges if desired. To curl a petal, slide a petal between a bone folder and your fingers to curl the tips of each long petal. Holding the base of the petal with your other thumb & forefinger while VERY GENTLY curling will prevent ripping. The process is similar to using a scissors to curve the ends of curling ribbon on a gift package.

My tip for cards today is to do paper crumpling on a project. That's right.....just crumple it up like you are going to throw it away.....but, wait, don't throw it away! Instead, open it back up and semi-flatten it again. Today's card utilizes a Pear Pizzazz cs that has been crumpled as a mat for the snail image.
On to today's project post........I made this gift for the host and hostess of a dinner party we attended recently. I wanted to stamp monogrammed cards for both of them and then decided to put them in a little handled box. One side of the box is embellished with the man's initial and the other side is embellished with the lady's initial. Then, it's fitting to simply slide the feminine cards into the lady's side of the box, and vice versa. I like how it all turned out.
I am featuring one more project that the gals stamped at my recent "Christmas Buffet" stamp camp. I found these large bakery treat boxes on clearance at a discount store and snatched them up to save for this particular stamp camp. So many people like to give home baked treats for the holidays as a hostess gift or to neighbors and friends. You can purchase plain Chinese takeout boxes or bakery boxes and embellish them yourself at a fraction of the cost of what it could cost to purchase giftwrap options at a retail store!
Here's a great way to give jewelry as a Christmas gift! {Or anything else of similar size!}.....make a darling little two drawer gift box and add a special something in each drawer! It is so easy to make this gift box if you have the Stampin' Up Bigz Matchbox Die and a Big Shot diecutting machine! This little box is one of the projects the gals made at my recent "Christmas Buffet" stamp camp!
You will need to die cut two sets of the matchbox and sleeve. The Riding Hood Red little tag is actually one of three tag shapes that are also cut in the matchbox die! So that matchbox die is really both a matchbox AND a tag shape die! I love the curvy shapes of each of the tags on that die! Here I layered tag shapes and topped it with a round message! Cute as a button!
Be sure to insert and secure the buttons {mine are pearly brads!} before assembling the matchbox if you want to hide the wings of the brad. Adhere the two box "sleeves" together, then wrap around a strip of cs. A wide ribbon secures everything!
Chocolate Chip card stock, Wild Wasabi card stock, and Woodland Walk (Stampin' Up's 2010/2011 IB&C, retired) designer series paper work together to create this beautiful 3-D project. It's a sweet idea for a few chocolate kisses!
I found this non-Stampin' Up scrapbook paper in my bottomless paper bin. I purchased it long ago & thought it would be ideal for this project!
3. Add adhesive to an end panel & fold up, pressing the two end panels together to form a long square tube.
