MAP IT MONDAY - Cheery Roses

Here's a very simple map that is ideal for a card with a stamped background.  The Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set is a thing of beauty - A Rose Is a Rose stamp set or one of our beautiful background stamps would also look beautiful for a card with this style of map. 

The message is created with the key tag punch, 1 3/4" circle punch & the designer label punch. 

I have used retired colors of Tangerine Tango & Riding Hood Red for this card, though you could substitute Ruby Red & Dusty Durango or Pumpkin Pie.

Why not give the recipient of your card a special treat when she opens the envelope?  Stamp on the envelope itself!  The envelope is custom designed to match the card!

SCRAPBOOK SATURDAY - 8 x 10 Frameable Scrapbook Page

I just had a stamp camp where we made a scrapbook page measuring 8 x 10" (the Not Quite Navy cs part of this scrapbook page above).  The 8 x 10" page can then be used in a frame for a table or wall, or it can be mounted on a 12 x 12" designer paper for a scrapbook.   Isn't that a great idea?   I chose to adhere my 8 x 10" page to some Close to Cocoa striped dsp & add a bright title.

I started with the 8 x 10" Not Quite Navy cs, then added a layer of Close to Cocoa patterned dsp measuring 6 x 8". 

I cut mats for the photos measuring 2 3/4" square.  The circles are punched with a 1" circle punch. 

Cs strips are added in both Not Quite Navy and Old Olive - the NQN strip is punched with the scallop border punch.

The title is traced on Old Olive cs using Onboard Chipboard letters.

There's no need for a scrap map today - the layout is very straightforward and easy to follow.

Isn't this a terrific color combination?

Fast Friday - Four Parisian Breezes

Instead of one card for this week's Fast Friday post, I have four cards - and, as always, they can be made in just a few minutes - fast!  Look at this set of precious, slender cards that I created in just a few minutes!  I used the retired Parisian Breeze dsp, Best Yet stamp set, and a few punches.   I used scraps from this dsp package.  What a quick & easy hostess gift this would be at the last minute!

Think About Color Thursday - Green Galore, Only Orange & Whisper White

This week's color combination is:  Green Galore, Only Orange, Whisper White

Bright, isn't it?  Not quite neon looking, but almost!

Kaleidoscope dsp adds a nice contrast to the Only Orange card.  I also found a scrap of ribbon that I adhered to the card front to give it extra pizzazz.

The eyelet border punch is used here on dsp - I tend to use that punch on cs only, but I'll try to remember to use it on dsp as well.

The funny lady here is from the Golden Oldies stamp set.  I have colored her with Stampin' Write markers & added an orange brad to her party hat.

Whatever Wednesday - Suede Birdie Keychain

This little keychain is easy to make & sure is handy.  This is what I keep my keys attached to (well, not this particular one) - it's easy to fish out of a purse because of its distinct shape too!  This cutie combines Soft Suede and Real Red - what an awesome color combination!  Soft Suede polka dotted ribbon adds such charm!

Here is what the keychain looks like on the inside - just tear off a small stack of post-it notes & adhere the back sheet to the cs.  I like to reinforce adhesion with ds tape.  The sticky note backing isn't enough of a hold.  The hole is punched with the Crop-o-Dile very easily without much pressure.

The trickiest part of making a keychain like this is inserting the metal keychain through the cs.   You can use either the round slide-thru style keychain or the style I have used here.

The Soft Suede bird on the front is stamped with bird from the Berry Christmas stamp set.

Tuesday Tips - Classy Brass

Tuesday Tip for the Week:  Classy Brass template adds detail to your projects

Have you tried any of the classy brass templates?  They are a great tool to use for dry embossing or for adding piercing detail to projects. 

This is what the "Punches Plus" Classy Brass looks like.  This particular template has various geometric shapes with piercing guides around the shapes.  I have used one of the circle guides to create piercings in this Green Galore cs circle flower.  It works easiest if you can center the template shape around a center point.  Positioning can be tricky otherwise.  I laid a 3/4" punched circle in the center of the large Green Galore circle.....

 then I centered the brass around that small center circle - this ensured that the piercings would be centered well on the cs.  I hope that makes sense.  Here is how I set it up for piercing (don't forget to put the mat cushion underneath the cs):

Though it's not easy to see in this photo, I used paper snips to snip little petals into the Green Galore circle, making it like a "mod flower".  I distressed the flower center with my fingernail & added a brad in the center.

The ticket corner punch and orange brads give this card harmony - black cs corners & the message are both ticket corner punched.  Brads tie it all together in the corners & in the middle of the flower.

Map It Monday - Pink Lady

I had fun creating this little old lady card today.  I actually saw a card that I liked that was created using the map here, so I created my card using the same map.  As you can see, I changed it up a bit, straying from the original map.  That's ok - it's the heart of creativity!

Here what you'll need to make this card:

Supplies -

cs:  white, Green Galore, Pixie Pink

dsp:  Kaleidoscope

stamps:  Golden Oldies stamp set

inks:  black Stazon; Stampin' Write Markers - Only Orange, Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Going Gray

punches:  small & large ovals, tiny circle punch, 1 3/4" circle

other:  mat pack, circle cutter, ribbon, brad

Aren't the little old people in this stamp set cute?  It's fun to color them with markers to match the papers.

The Pixie Pink rectangle is paper pierced with a mat pack & adhered with dimensionals to the card.  The lady is also adhered with dimensionals.   I used the 1 3/4" circle punch for the lady & cut out a larger circle with a circle cutter out of Green Galore cs.
